Weekly Round-up on Amateur Darts Circuit

Ricky Palmer was this weeks South West Title Match Qualifier winner. Palmer won the second instalment of the round robin event, which is being held at Bar501, Bristol, averaging 76.56 throughout. Ricky now sits top of the overall leader board after week two and is closely followed by Steve Brown after he was victorious in week 1. Only two more weeks remain of the event to see who will take on Ryan Palmer at the Modus Studios in Portsmouth for the right to be crowned the South West Title winner.
Back in and amongst the action was Matt Jackson as he sailed past opponents on his way to winning the Grand Prix Round Robin Event 1 at Highbridge Social Club in Somerset. Solidifying his place at the top of the ADC order of merit, Jackson averaged 82.75 and hit two maximums along the way.
Consett Station Club in County Durham is the venue for the North East Title Match Qualifiers. Alike to the event in Bristol, being held over 4 weeks for the chance to challenge ‘The Badger’ Dave Prins at the Modus Studios in Portsmouth. Tyne and Wear County player Lewis Mayes came out on top in Week 2 defeating Tony Wood. Winning means the youngster is sat in 2 nd place in the table headed marginally by Tony with only two weeks remaining to see who can claim top spot.
Matt Jackson headlined another Round Robin Event at Bar501 in Bristol which really is known as his fortress. ‘The Action’ again proved too strong for his opponents as he picked up another competition win. Matt brushed aside Ricky Palmer in the final 4-0 with an astounding 96.97 average. This form epitomises what ‘Action’ can do and on behalf of everyone here in the ADC we wish him the best of luck this week commencing down at the Modus Super Series in Portsmouth.
The Southwark Open in London was won by Cam Crabtree. Cam flew out the blocks easily seeing off Charlie Hardie 4-0 averaging 78.08. The last 16 awaited and again the lad from London excelled as he defeated Dean Cross 4-1. Followed by two routine wins in the last 8 and last 4 Cam set up a tasty encounter with John Nelson. Nelson claimed the first two legs before Cam shifted into gear eventually winning 6-3 with an 82.36 average. After winning various ADC Ranking Competitions it’s apparent to see why Cam has been selected to appear at the Modus Super Series later this week.
An exceptional night for Gary Davey at the Botanical Gardens in Atherton, witnessed him be crowned champion. Davey played some high-quality darts at the event in Lancashire getting better as each round progressed. The final was contested brilliantly, ultimately being decided in the last leg with a 15-dart break of throw from Gary as he was crowned champion winning 4-3 with an average of 82.98.
The last Winmau Sky Lounge Ranking Series Event of the year took place in Tyne and Wear this weekend and it was Phil Borthwick who came out the worthy winner. Competition in the North East is at an all-time high, and this was incredibly showcased this weekend. Borthwick had to overcome in-form players Ray Marshall, David Gradwell and Paul Dinning reaching the final playing excellently all day. With his toughest test yet to come in the final against the in-form Adam Atkinson. The final was an anxious affair for both players with Phil managing to claim the title with a 5-2 win.
Daryl Peach was crowned champion of the Icon Darts November Grand Slam in Blackpool, Lancashire. This earned him 32 points in the ADC rankings. Daryl who is a multiple World 9ball Pool Champion downed the cue this weekend to great effect. Peach who finished top of his Round Robin Group defeated Scott Dale 5-2 in the final.
Coventry Darts Promotions held an event this weekend which was won by Rich Hosey. Rich eased past Steven Edwards in the Quarter-Final 4-0 before a tough encounter with Matt Padgett in the Semi-Final saw Hosey progress as a 5-3 winner. In the final Rich won 6-3 against Kevin Wragg.
