Action Packed ADC Weekend
ADC Number 1 Matt Jackson seems to be finding a real purple patch after extending his lead at the top of the rankings to 79 points. The Englishman after his disappointing performances in Bristol, returned to the oche this weekend and won the Royal Oak Wallasey GSoD beating Robbie Ward in a last-leg decider 5-4 to claim 32 ranking points on Sunday
The 37-year-old earned a further 4 points on Saturday after reaching the Quarter Finals of the Riley’s Chorlton July GSoD, losing to Robert Rickwood a man who has played the Online Live League this year already.
The Action now has 753 points to his name with his performances over the weekend and for the first time, he really has a cushion at the top with more competitions to play over the coming weeks.
Adam Atkinson returned to ADC action this weekend after missing Championship Tours 3 and 4 in Bristol opting not to play in either tournament. The Northeast man played the Knack Ranking Series Event 4 in Seaham on Sunday, making his way to the Quarter Finals losing a high-quality game with Tony Wood 4-3 with both players averaging 83 in the tungsten tussle.
The ADC Number 2 and Number 4 both hit ton-plus checkouts in the Quarter Final tie with the veteran finding a 104 checkout in the third leg to take a 3-0 lead. The Winmau Championship Tour 1 winner found his first leg of the match in the next leg with the highest checkout hit by either player, finishing 120 to make the score 3-1.
52-year-old Wood would go on to the Final and lose in a last-leg decider to Ryan Anderson, but another strong run has seen 32 ranking points added which puts him on 584 points and 14 behind Winmau Championship Tour 3 Winner Steve Brown.
Adam Warner was a winner across the weekend's action, with the Sheffield thrower coming out on top in the Riley’s Chorlton July GSoD after beating Nathan Care 5-4 in the Final adding 32 points to his ranking score. The Englishman averaged 86 in his Quarter Final and Semi-Final ties including a 103 checkout in the third leg of his match with Robert Rickwood which he went on to win 4-3.
The Terriers Title holder is up to 411 points but knows he needs more performances like the weekend if he is to catch those above him, with Graham Hall 73 points clear of Warner in sixth place. More events such as the Streamline Taxis York Open returning for event 11 as well as the Swanage July 48 Player Round Robin Tournament provide even more opportunities for players to boost their rankings score.
